Bucket List Adventures

More bucket list activities. On Sunday, August 26, Steph and I ventured around the fancy DC Wharf and then we took a free water taxi to Hains Point where we walked to the point, where you can see DC, Maryland and Virginia, along with the Potomac and Anacostia River.

On Friday, August 31 we went to the last Marine Corp band performance of the summer at the Marine Barracks in southeast DC. The ceremony starts every Friday evening during the summer at 8:45 pm and is a universal symbol of the professionalism, discipline and United States Marines. The ceremony tells a story regardless of where the Marines are.

It was amazing! I am so glad that we were able to go and I so wish I would have known about it sooner, because I know the cousins would have loved it. After the ceremony, we went to Ted Bulletins for their famous homemade pop tarts!
Lastly, on Sunday September 2 it was super hot outside, like almost 100 degrees and humid, so we decided to go to the National Museum of Women in Arts because on the first Sunday of the month it is free. It is a small museum and I had been there one time before when I first moved to DC to go to a concert with Barb and Robin.
After the museum, we did try to go to an event outside, but it was still way to hot. So, we went over to Chinatown for authentic Chinese food - homemade noodles - amazing! The place is a total hole in the wall, but it was amazing!
I know this is a blog catch up and if I would have blogged earlier I wouldn't have known this, but having Stephanie in my life and doing these bucket list items really means a lot to me and made 2018 great!

Boston

As I mentioned, my summer encompassed a lot of traveling. In August I went to Boston. I had been to Boston two other times, but it has been 10 years since I was last in Boston. I really hope to go to Boston one last time before I leave the east coast. The reason for Boston this time was for work. I went to work at our National Meeting on recruiters row.
National Meeting is huge - I think there were about 14,000 attendees.
I thought my hotel room was pretty cool when the TV welcomed me. I also realized my hotel room bigger than my entire studio...
I sadly wasn't able to explore Boston, but I did have some amazing Italian food!

Why did I have a 6:30am flight back to DC? Cause I thought I should go into work that day...I'm dumb...I also don't trust myself when it comes to alarms this early...
It was a quick 2 day trip to Boston, but it was still fun to see some of the first east coast city I fell in love with. I have go to get back!

July Random

Another random post, let's see what randomness I did in July..
Princess really likes laptops - whether it is my personal or my work laptop, it doesn't matter she is a fan of technology.

July was expensive! I had to get Bumblebee because Princess needed to go to the vet for her annual visit and because this is the only way I can get the vet to fill her liquid gold, aka Lantus for her diabetes. Well I decided to get my car and have an oil change and then go pick it up a few days later. When I went to get my car on Friday afternoon in Rockville, I was driving it around running errands and the battery light kept coming on and then it just stayed on - grrr... it's a new battery, what is going on. So, I went back to the dealership and demanded that someone look at it (my years of working at a dealership, do not make me afraid to speak my mind and I will not be taken advantage of because I am a girl.) Well after about an hour, it turned out the Bumblebee needed a new alternator, cool, I have a spare $1k laying around, said Mere never. But I also needed a car - I had to take Princess to the vet. Well, thankful the dealership gave me a loaner car, even though they didn't have to. It was pretty cool to drive a new Honda Civic - but I still love my Bumblebee.
While, I was in the burbs I decided to go to the only Urgent Care I know about and have my finger looked at...somehow I got an infected cuticle...

Then I drove my the old house. Sometimes I miss the way things use to be...
But then I remember how far I have come and one of them is that I can sometimes drive in DC. I still don't feel comfortable, but there are like 5 roads I can now drive on :) And one of them in North Capitol with a view of the US Capitol.
I really love Word Porn.

Remember how I said July was expensive - yeah, well I also got yet another ear infection...because I am a child who is 38 or because I need to find a support group of people trying to kick the habit of Q-Tips...
I really love floral prints....even when they don't match. It's hot!
And lastly, yet another intern event where we celebrated our interns - cool sign and cool cake!

Texas!

I seriously can't believe that it has been months since I blogged. I am going to try and remember what I did at the end of July in Texas, as I currently prepare to go back to Texas for New Years.
Texas is now like my second home because that is where my cousin lives and also where my best friends live. I have been to Tyler, Texas many times in my life, I even spent two summers here while in high school. I traveled a lot the summer of 2018. I have already blogged about Idaho and New Mexico and now a month later I was headed south to Texas for a few days.
Karen and I flew into DFW and rented a car to drive to Tyler. And it just so happened that on our way to Tyler we were able to stop at the best restaurant, In-N-Out! Yum!
The main reason for going to Tyler, was to attend Sophia's baby shower and to meet Sophia before they went overseas. I just love babies so much! And it was so wonderful to see my dear friend as a mom. The McKeown's are part of my family and I love all of them so much and they always make me feel so welcome.

The awesome part of being in Tyler is that I can also see my cousin. I didn't realize how much I would miss Tuf, but I do miss her so much. Though I am extremely proud of all that she has accomplished in Tyler! So proud of you Tuf. Love you!
I spent a night with Tuf and then it was back to McKeown's to see Kimberley, Marcos and Sophia again because I had no idea when I was going to see them again as they were heading to Brazil and then Fiji. But I found out earlier this week that they will be back in Tyler at Christmas, so now I get to see them again! Yay!!!!

Oh man, I stink at games now - I lost at Phase 10, so very bad... I need to find new games, because all my old favs are not my friends anymore. Ah, who am I kidding I still love Phase 10, even if I am terrible at it.
