Congressional Cemetery

Back to bucket list items. On Saturday, November 10, Stephanie and I did something we have talked about since the creation our our bucket list. The Congressional Cemetery is in Southeast DC and is also a dog park - so I call this pet cemetery :) ha! The cemetery has been a cemetery since 1790. The cemetery was created 50 years before Arlington National Cemetery. The Congressional Cemetery made sense for congressmen to be buried. Until the mid-1830's almost all congressmen were buried here. Over the years the cemetery grew to 35 acres and is still owned by Christ Church.
You can do a free tour of the cemetery - but we didn't know that and when we got there it was too late for the tour - but they have a free app that you can download and it will track your GPS and tell you interesting stories about the people who are buried here.
Fall time in DC in beautiful and the cemetery is no exception.

We spent about 2 hours here and it did not disappoint - I do want to come back in the spring and take the tour. Highly recommend this place.
Since we were close, we went to the Pretzel Bakery - it's amazing! I wish it was closer to where I live, but then again I would go there every day and that wouldn't be a good idea. Best pretzels ever!
Perfect fall day with a good friend!

Barb's Here Day 5

Barb's last day, where had the week gone? We started the day with a tour of the Pentagon (no photos inside the Pentagon). This is the 2nd time I have gone on a tour and they still pound so much information into you.
After the Pentagon we went to Old Town Alexandria to my favorite Thai place for my favorite dish - cashew chicken - it's amazing!
Old Town is adorable!
After Old Town we came back into DC and went over to the Wharf.
We stopped at a Mexican restaurant and had a few drinks (we were buzzed :)) and guc and chips. It was a perfect way to end this awesome trip!
It had been raining in DC throughout the day and when the sun was sitting the sky was amazing - like the most beautiful sky I had ever seen and over the water - wow, picturesque.
After our fun evening at the wharf we went back to my apartment and had to get Barb packed and ready for her early morning train. We left my apartment around 6 am and walked to Union Station, where Barb caught the train to BWI. Before Barb left she had to say goodbye to Princess - who loves her and she loves Princess.

As you can tell from the previous posts - we had an amazing time. I love Barb, she is truly one of the most special people in my life. She is always there for me, tells me like it is and simply just loves me. Thank you Barb for always being there for me. I love you!
