In November we finally made it to the National Zoo. The Zoo is a Smithsonian, so that means it is free! Have I mentioned that majority of things in DC are free? If not, they are. Love it!
The Zoo is one of the oldest in the US and was founded in 1889. The zoo sits on 163 acres and it is not flat, but rather hilly - so a friend at work told me to not take the Zoo stop on the metro but go one more stop on the red line to the Cleveland Park stop and walk down to the zoo - smart!
