On Black Friday, Tuf, Anthony and I left our house at 7am and took the metro into DC. So, we could stand in line to get tickets to tour the Bureau of Engraving of Printing.
This is the line before 8am!
The tour was recommended by Becky and I am so glad we got up early to go on the tour. It is free and you can not get tickets online - thus the need to get in line so early. However, apparently the day after Thanksgiving is the Bureau's busiest days. Once you are on the tour, you can not take pictures because this is only one of two places, the other is in Fort Worth, Texas, where US money is made from start to finish. Don't get the Mint (Denver & Philadelphia) confused with the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. The Mint creates coins, the Bureau creates paper money.
How much we are worth!
What trip to DC is not complete without some Washington Monument photos :)
On our way to the metro Tuf feed a squirrel a nut. It was really cool cause the squirrel came up to here and was so gentle when he grabbed for the almond.
Tuf's friend Christina and her friend stopped over for 2 nights with us on their way to Connecticut. After we got home from the Bureau of Engraving and Printing we went back to DC and had lunch in Chinatown and then we walked the National Mall and Tidal Basin. You would think since I have walked it a few times now over the months, I would get sick of it...but I don't. Love it and I learn something new every time. Below are some highlights of our few mile walk.
White House!
Sun setting over the Potomac.
Finally a good photo of Jefferson!
It's been a few photos since you have seen the Washington Monument. So here are some more :)
Hanging with my new friend, Belinda, on the metro.
We love having visitors in town - and showing them all the awesomeness of DC!
