Goehner's Visit - Day 6

So, yeah, not sure what happened and why I just stopped blogging mid family visit. Operation blog catch up is in motion again and maybe their won't be another break - but no guarantees.
On Thursday, April 4 we started the morning early again with a trip to Arlington National Cemetery and did the tour which takes you around the cemetery - don't try to walk it, it is huge and hilly and the tour is cheap and gives you interesting facts!
The Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers - always a humblings experience to witness.

  The large Memorial Amphitheater:

The Space Shuttle Columbia Memorial:

The USS Main Mast Memorial:
Next we went over to Crystal City for lunch and then onto the Pentagon for a tour. This is the third time I have done a Pentagon tour and it is always so interesting, but so much information so quickly.

Normally, as part of the Arlington National Cemetery tour you can walk to the Iwo Gima Memorial, but there is a lot of construction at Arlington right now, so went to Iwo Gima after the Pentagon.

Then we took the free Circulator to Georgetown to see the Exorcist Steps (I didn't realize that the family was such big movie buffs)!

Next up we took the bus back to DuPont and saw some street performers (just like we did in New York City)
Then we hopped on the metro and rode out to Wheaton. Escalators impress kids - we did the same thing with Hailey. We went out to Wheaton to ride the escalator up and down. The escalator ride is almost three minutes long and the longest escalator in the northern hemisphere.

We then went back to Chinatown and had a great dinner at a fancy restaurant I had never been too. Then we came back home and crashed.... this is what I do to people on "vacation"...
