On Saturday, February 22, Kasey and I hosted a baby shower for Ri. Kyle and Ri do not know what they are having, so we went with a gender neutral shower. As we get older we try to be more mature, or so we think. So instead of the silly shower games that we use to play in our 20's we went for a more elegant theme and focused on the food and conversation.
I also did a few crafts. What?!?! I know right! I think my grandma would be proud of me or she is shaking her head and be thinking, I told you you can be crafty :) Haha! I just spray painted 2 things - I am still not crafty!
We bought chalkboard spray paint!
Finished product. But, some of the chalkboard paint leaked through the tape, so off to Wal-Mart I went and bought aqua spray paint, cause aqua is one of Ri's colors.
I actually kept this the chalkboard, because it is awesome and it matches my bedroom. So, each week I put a new Bible verse on it.
My other project was much simpler but still required spray paint! I spray painted the board and then I put a piece of gray chevron scrapbook paper behind a dry eraser calendar. Then people could put what gender and day they think that Ri will have the baby.
Okay back to the baby shower!!!!
The welcome table. Oh and I forgot, that it was also my idea to but some yellow grass in mason jars and tie an aqua ribbon around the jar. Again using Marie colors of aqua and yellow. I also saw on Pinterest (Note: I am not on Pinterest but when you Google anything it leads you there) was hand sanitizer for a baby shower thank you (and yes I tied all the little thank yous around 30 bottles of hand sanitizers).
We had so much food from lemon cookies, to mini pineapple upside down cakes to chocolate coconut cherry scones (made by the amazing Stefanie!), to strawberries dipped in vanilla and chocolate, to quiches, to pumpkin coffee cake, to muffins, to fruit, to dip, to crackers and cheese.
We also had punch, water with cucumbers and sparkling drinks. See the fun straws, I love them!
We also had jars of M&M's around where people could guess how many were in each. I was so close with my guess of 972!
What up!?!?!
The hostesses with mommy-to-be!!!
Some of the guests.
Katie and Ri are only 20 days apart!
Just in case you forgot what I looked like. Here I am again! Handing Ri all her gifts.

Ah, family! Ri with Li and Katie!
Ri and her mom.
It was such a fun shower and I am so glad that so many people came to support Ri and Kyle as they embark on parenthood!
