On Friday, April 22, two of the best people I know came to the east coast for the first time! I love Lionel and Yesenia! They flew in on a Friday night and I meet them at Reagan. For dinner we went to District Pit and then we walked to the White House and the Washington Monument.
We had an early start on Saturday. Our first stop was at the U.S. Capitol for a tour. I have been on a few hundred Capitol tour's, but our tour guide was amazing! She did such a wonderful job. I wish all m guests could go on a tour with her.
Winnemucca is a town about an hour outside of my home town in Nevada.
We needed to some food between our tours, so we chose very healthy options.
After our healthy brunch we took the underground tunnel to the Library of Congress.
Thankfully, by they time we ventured outside the rain had stopped. You can tour the Supreme Court, but not on the weekends. So, the steps of the Supreme Court is as good as we could do on this day.
We walked over to Eastern Market and had lunch at District Taco. On our way to the metro, Lionel had lost his metro card, but we were able to buy a new one!
Next on the tour docket, Arlington National Cemetery.
This is a family tree at Arlington House that shows the lineage from George Washington to Robert E. Lee.
After Arlington National Cemetery we walked to Iwo Jima and then to the Roslyn metro.
Next we went to the Pentagon Memorial and then onto Old Town for some amazing Thai food at one of my favorite restaurants, Mai Thai.
After dinner we walked along the pier in Old Town.
What a fun, but exhausting day!
