On Wednesday, April 3 we were back in DC. Our train arrived back into DC around 12:30am, we had to walk home which was interesting. We slept in a little bit on Wednesday and started the day with brunch at The Smith.
Then we walk to the White House for some classic tourist photos.
Our only scheduled event was the Holocaust Museum. In my humble opinion it is the best museum in DC, but it is also one you do not take pictures in. This was on Ash's bucket list and I always recommend that people go through the museum at their own pace, so I took Liah and did the kid friendly version.
After the Holocaust Museum we walked around the Tidal Basin and cherry blossoms were in full bloom. When we planned this trip we had no idea if the cherry blossoms would be in bloom or not, but they were and it is one of the best times to be in DC.
Then we went over to the Korean War Memorial and Lincoln Memorial. We hadn't planned on it, but we did the entire mall during the late afternoon and evening.
And as I like to remind everyone and yet somehow forget on my end, when you are around the Lincoln Memorial nothing is close. Yet, it was around 8pm and we hadn't ate since our brunch around 11am. We also needed to go to my office so Ashley could print a form (we had accidentally left Liah's favorite animal at the hotel in New York and they would not ship it to us with out completing their paper form). So we walked over to DuPont and ordered Shake Shack and then Ash and I went to my office while Marty and Liah stayed at Shake Shack. When we got to my office, I realized that our copy room was locked and I didn't know the code. Very frustrating as we walked all the way there, but on a positive note, Ash figured out how to do WiFi printing in my building (one of the many services they offer) and that would come in handy later in the trip.
We didn't plan on it - but we did the entire National Mall and Tidal Basin. We walked around 13 miles this day and this was suppose to be our relaxing day - ha! relaxing on vacation in DC does not exist.
