Mansion on O Street

On a cold Martin Luther King JR day in January (Monday the 21st). Stephanie and I decided to do something inside on our bucket list. The Mansion on O Street in DuPont Circle. The Mansion on O Street consists of 5 town homes interlocking together, with over 100 rooms and 70 secret doors. It was designed in 1892 by Edward Clark who designed the US Capitol for himself, his brother, James "Champ" Clark who was the Speaker of the House during the Teddy Roosevelt Presidency and a third brother only known as the "artist". Since Clark was one of the architects he would incorporate left over tiles and wood from the Capitol into the mansion. The house has seen many famous people as the city of Washington, DC has evolved, including Mrs. Rosa Parks.
They say that the average visitor only finds 2-5 secret doors and that is exactly all that Stephanie and I could find. We had fun exploring the house and looking through all their unique stuff. It was like we were given permission to snoop in something that wasn't ours.

Found our first secret door.

Another door found!

A Tiffany stain glass window that was discovered after the purchase of the mansion and was said to cost more than what the current owners bought the mansion for.

We did need help to find this other secret door and behind the door was a beautiful wine cellar room.
This is such an eclectic place and something that is super fun and if you have spare time in DC (haha) I would recommend it.
