The weekend of August 20, Melissa, her friend Amanda and I went to Ocean City for some beach time. I love, love, love the ocean - but I don't go that often. So, when Melissa invited me to Ocean City for the weekend a few weeks ago, I eagerly said, YES!
Melissa and I drove to Amanda's house around the BWI area and then Amanda drove to Ocean City. Ocean City is in Maryland and right below Delaware.
Because this was not my trip, I tried really hard to no micromanage and plan anything (shocking I know!). When I texted Melissa on Thursday night to see where we were going to stay, she said that we would get a hotel when we got there. What?!?! We didn't have a room? Gah! So, I looked on Expedia and all the rooms were sold out. No! Melissa said that a lot of the hotels don't like people booking for just 1 night, so we would drive around and look for vacancies when we got there. I didn't believe that. But I figured the worst thing that could happen was we got there and there were not hotel and we would just drive the 3 hours back home. I was telling this to my co-worker, Caroline at lunch on Friday and she said she had an app that looked for last minute deals on hotels. So, she looked and there was nothing! Yep. We will be driving home on Saturday night. But again, this is not my trip, I can not micromanage. As we were driving to Ocean City on Saturday morning, Caroline texted me and said that she found a hotel. Melissa called the hotel and we booked 1 night for just over $300. You know, there was a day when spending $100 on a hotel was expensive and now I don't even blink - because seriously, that is what you pay for hotels out here and what I have paid for hotels in NYC, plus we split it 3 ways so $100 per person wasn't bad.
Our first stop in Ocean City was for lunch. We ate on the bay side at Fish Tails. It was good. Yummy drink. Food was normal, and that is probably because I still don't know if I am allergic to shrimp, so I am staying away from it - which is really sad.
After lunch we drove to our hotel and went to the beach. I love the beach! I could just stay here forever! It is so beautiful and the water was perfect!
After hanging out on the beach for a few hours we checked into our hotel room and the views of the ocean and bay were amazing!
Getting ready to go to dinner!
We ate dinner at another restaurant on the bay side in the sand.
We all know that Meredith is not a partier. I never have been. I don't like clubs and especially don't like drunk people. But I agreed to go to this club that everyone told me about, Secrets. It is huge! I stayed for a couple hours and then I took the bus to the hotel. It was a great first day in Ocean City!
Waking up to the ocean was AMAZING! More views from our hotel room.
Representing Maryland in...well Maryland :)
After we checked out of our hotel we grabbed donuts at Fractured Prune - they were really good!
On our way out we stopped and walked along the boardwalk. It is about 3 miles long, so we just walked a little bit of it, but it was really fun!
And one last walk in the ocean - so perfect!
This was a perfect and relaxing girls weekend!
